The opposite of joy and happiness are pain and suffering. They both exist on this planet and you cannot hide under a rock and think yourself into the belief that there will never be any of the negative. There is positive and there is negative, like two ends of a battery. That is a fact of the world we live in. There is life, there is death. There is up, there is down. I do agree we should aspire to be positive -- that does make the world a heck of a lot nicer if we would all be decent and happy to one another, and it makes your day feel better. It also prevents people from avoiding you and probably increases your chances for some success in some instances, as no one likes being around a miserable person. However, there are plenty of negative, nasty, miserable people who are wealthy. There are plenty of car accidents that happen to happy, bubbly people. The first time I was hit was when I was the happiest in my life and life was going amazingly well. I did not decide to make the other guy drunk - he had his own agency to make his own decision on that one. I chose to be in a car as a passenger, that's all. It is cruel, immature and ignorant to believe that all victims attract all their adversities. We have to have some adversity in order to learn compassion, or we would all have huge egos filled with pride. Adversity also humbles you, and teaches you things you can never learn any other way. Everyone on this planet will be touched by some, that is the way it was set up. "Bad things happen to good people" as the old book says. Some of the kindest people I know had kids who screwed up and brought them heartache. Good decent folks get killed at young ages. There are evil people in the world, there are crooks, there are people with zero morals, and there are terribly unenlightened folks all over the place, and if you live long enough, the stats say you will run into one of them eventually! Not because you attracted them, but simply because they exist, because we live in a world of OPPOSITES. If everyone on the planet started thinking positive thoughts, maybe we would have a "heaven on earth" - but, that ain't happening any time soon. There are portions of this planet still in the dark ages. Even in free countries. So for now, all the guilt this "Secret" is causing, and all the blaming of victims makes for more negativity itself!! Try this - LOVE, unconditional love. Now that's a hard pill to swallow. But until we all do, there will always be problems. For now, accept the fact that this planet is still a testing ground for all of us that live on it, and tests require challenges that need to be overcome. Sadly, many of them are not very pretty. But within every adversity is a silver lining if you look for it and stay grateful.
