Skeptical Freethought Atheist Musings to Dispel Ignorance and Enlighten the Mind
When I think of testimonials, I think of religious gatherings and people saying Amen a lot.
This page isn’t for that kind of thing. It’s for people to share their stories, so that others can come along and read it and say, “Good, I’m not the only one”.
Testimonial:
1. A statement in support of a particular truth, fact, or claim.
2. A written declaration certifying to a person’s character, conduct, or qualifications, or to the value, excellence, etc., of a thing; a letter or written statement of recommendation.
3. Something given or done as an expression of esteem, admiration, or gratitude.
I’ll start things off by telling my story: Neece’s Quest for Knowledge Turns to Atheism.

[...] Testimonials (can you think of a less religious word for this? I don’t like this word) [...]

How about “personal tributes” or just “tributes”?

Hmm… I’ve done some research on the words tribute and testimonial. Unfortunately I think testimonial is the right word for the job because it encompasses a lot of different smaller definitions. I’d rather use tributes, but it might be misleading to people in a lot of instances.
We’ll just have to make the best of testimonial I think, and make it stand for its true definition.
I think I just need to get over my dislike of the word.

Testimonial is the right word because it has a religious connotation and someone LEAVING their particular religion is going to know exactly what it means.
